I was reading the Quran when I realized how many times we said Allah’s names, such as “Rahman,” “Rahim,” “Aziz,” and “Hakim,” to mention a few. In addition, throughout our daily and sunnat prayers, we shall say “Azeem” and “Aqla.”
MashaAllah. I can sense how lost I was for many years since I didn’t know what I was reciting.
Because we live in Malaysia, where Arabic is not the primary language, most of us learned the deen through our schools, parents, and some Teachers when we were young.
We were instructed to study and advance in our secular studies. We’ve all been told that in order to be successful, we must thrive academically. This is exactly what has been occurring in Malaysia.
So, now that I am 30, I have always begged and made a dua for Allah to guide me and teach me everything I need to know.
I recently realized that knowing Allah’s 99 Names is very lovely, and knowing His character can help you grasp who the Creator is. That is a slave’s trip to gain the pleasure of the King of Al-Alamin.
Knowing that if I put in the effort to learn His names, InsyaAllah, I will be able to memorize them and have faith that Allah will be with me. Later on, I’d want to share the adventure of learning the 99 names of Allah with the readers.
“If a person concerns himself with learning about Allah, he is doing what he was formed for,” I read somewhere, “but if he ignores the topic, he is disregarding what he was created for.”
Now I’m starting to comprehend what faith is, since faith without knowledge means we’re just mindlessly following something, and how can we acquire the sweetness of iman if we don’t make an effort to learn who Allah is via his Names and Attributes? The more we study about Allah, the more trust we may have.
